Age brings wisdom and several other changes, including with our skin. It can lose its elasticity with time, and patients commonly seek treatments to enjoy firm, reinvigorated skin

The good news is that the aestheticians at Iconic Beauty Aesthetics in Red Deer offer several anti-aging treatments, from chemical peels to dermal fillers

There Are Many Ways to Help Your Skin Shine

We want everyone to love the skin they’re in—and lots of patients come to us to feel their most confident selves. You can achieve a healthy, youthful look with the help of a skincare professional. We can learn more about your aesthetic needs during an initial consultation and recommend a treatment plan.

Some of the treatments we may recommend include:

  • Laser skin resurfacing
  • Chemical peels
  • Microneedling
  • Dermal fillers and neuromodulators
  • Microdermabrasion

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing, which we also call a laser micropeel, is a cosmetic treatment to improve skin texture by removing the superficial layer of the skin. Another specialized laser called fractional resurfacing, helps heat your skin to create microscopic injuries to stimulate collagen and elastin production, 2 essential components for skin elasticity. Collagen and elastin production slows as we age, making it harder for skin to stretch and move back into place.

We use an ablative or non-ablative laser during treatment to heat the skin. Ablative lasers remove the skin’s outer layer to help heat the underlying skin, and non-ablative lasers heat the skin without removing any of the skin’s layers.

This treatment may benefit your aesthetic goals if you have:

  • Scars
  • Age spots
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Crow’s feet
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores
  • Saggy skin
  • Warts

Laser resurfacing can benefit your skin, but expect it to feel sensitive after treatment. We can help you keep your skin comfortable as it heals with our aftercare instructions.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel can help bring your face’s smooth underlying skin to the surface. Our skin protects us every day from the sun and other irritants, and this skin can become damaged with time. During a chemical peel, we apply a solution to remove the skin’s top layers, revealing a bright, youthful complexion.

Chemical peels can help address:

  • Skin discolouration
  • Congested pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Fine lines and wrinkles

A benefit of chemical peels is that you can choose the strength of your treatment. Chemical peels can deeply penetrate your skin or only address the outer layers. We can help determine if chemical peels are ideal for your needs and what type of peel you prefer during an initial consultation.

Microneedling

Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure for improving skin tone, helping patients achieve smooth, firmer skin. These results are made possible by injuring your skin with medical-grade needles—they prick the skin to stimulate your body’s natural healing process

Your body reacts to these micro-injuries by increasing collagen and elastin production to create new skin tissue that is firm and toned. The pricks in your skin are barely noticeable, and many patients require no healing after treatment.

Microneedling may benefit you if you’re looking to improve:

  • Dark spots on your skin
  • Stretch marks
  • Enlarged pores
  • Acne scars, wrinkles, or fine lines
  • Saggy skin

Microneedling is a safe and effective treatment but isn’t ideal for everyone. We can help determine if microneedling is right for you during an initial consultation.

Dermal Fillers & Neuromodulators

Dermal fillers help restore lost volume in the skin that naturally occurs with age. Injecting dermal fillers into specific areas of your face can help plump your skin, leading to a more defined complexion by restoring volume and addressing fine lines and wrinkles.

Dermal fillers can help treat several areas on the face, including:

  • Deep facial wrinkles
  • Cheeks
  • Lips
  • Chin and jawline
  • Smile lines
  • Under the eyes

Neuromodulators are another type of injection you can receive, more commonly known as the brand Botox. Many patients receive these injections to treat forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet and other facial areas

They help treat fine lines and wrinkles, reducing their appearance for several months. These injections block the signals between the signals that cause your facial muscles to contract, smoothing your skin.

While dermal fillers and neuromodulators are generally safe, they can lead to potential side effects—which we can discuss during your initial consultation.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion or Bela MD is a cosmetic treatment to improve your skin tone and texture. It can help reduce wrinkles, fine lines, and sun damage.

Microdermabrasion works by removing the topmost layer of dead skin cells. In an approximately one-hour treatment, we exfoliate your skin in targetted areas. We then immediately apply specialized serums to your skin, along with other treatment modalities, such as electromechanical stimulation, hydrogenated water, and electroporation for radiant, healthy skin.

This treatment can help address:

  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Age spots
  • Mild acne
  • Mild scarring
  • Dull complexion
