What Should I Expect?
The Conversation
Before we get started with any treatment, we will have a no-obligation consultation to pinpoint any issues and talk about your goals. This conversation will involve relevant medical and family history to ensure the treatment you seek is right for you.
We will then discuss your expected results and any associated risks with the procedure before moving forward.
The Process
Treating your hyperhidrosis will involve BOTOX injections in the areas where you deal with excessive sweating. All injections can typically be completed within 1 visit to our office. We’ll likely ask you to shave the treatment site a few days before your appointment to ensure we have the most accurate view of the treatment area.
We’ll clean the injection area with an antibacterial cleanser and then administer the BOTOX through a superfine needle. If you have trouble with needles, we can numb the area using a topical or vibration anesthesia. You’ll receive several injections in a grid pattern around the area of concern.
The entire process should not take longer than an hour, depending on how many areas we need to treat.
The Results
After all injections are complete, we’ll have you relax for a few minutes to make sure you don’t have any adverse reactions. If necessary, we’ll provide you with an ice pack to alleviate any discomfort.
You can return to any normal activities immediately after treatment, but we recommend avoiding any strenuous activity. You may experience some swelling, bruising, or discomfort for a few days after treatment.
It will likely take up to a week for you to stop sweating in the treated area. It may take up to 2 weeks for total dryness. 2 weeks after your treatment, we’ll invite you back for a follow-up appointment.
